Modernising agriculture through mechanisation approach
19 July 2022Boustead Plantations Berhad (BPB) today presented a business zakat of RM264,644 to the state of Johor.
The handover was completed by BPB director Datuk Abdul Ghani Abdul Rashid to Johor Islamic religious affairs committee chairman YB Mohd Fared Mohd Khalid at a ceremony held in Iskandar Puteri.
Present together during the ceremony were BPB Head of Strategy and Corporate Development Khairudin Ibrahim and BPB Johor’s Head of Teluk Sengat Business Unit Shamsulbahri Mohamad.
The business zakat to Majlis Agama Islam Negeri Johor will go towards providing assistance to aid the asnaf, or eligible zakat recipients, in the state.
The payment of business zakat is part of BPB social agenda to assist, develop and empower local communities, in line with the principles of ESG.
BPB operates four palm oil estates and a palm oil mill in Johor. Through these operations, BPB contributes to the local economy through job creation and providing business opportunities to the local community.
