The Roundtable on Sustainability Palm Oil (RSPO) is a global, multi-stakeholder initiative on sustainable palm oil. Members of the RSPO and participants in its activities comes from varied backgrounds, including plantations companies, processors and traders, consumer goods manufacturers and retailers of palm oil products, financial institutions, environmental NGOs and social NGOs, from many countries that produce or use palm oil. It has developed and implemented global standards for sustainable palm oil. RSPO was formed in 2002 by four founding members, namely Aarhus United UK Ltd, Migros, Malaysian Palm Oil Association, Unilever and WWF. It was officially registered in Switzerland in 2003.

BPB was one of the first growers who joined the RSPO in 2004. We fully support the RSPO’s vision to make Sustainable Palm Oil a standard practice in the market. As at December 2021, we have successfully obtained RSPO certification for six of our business units, comprising 20 estates and six mills. We are on track to certify all our business units by 2023.

The Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) Certification Scheme was first launched in 2015, based on MSPO standards (MS2530:2013 series). It provides general principles for the production of sustainable palm oil, covering the 3Ps (People, Planet Profit) in Malaysia. Key sustainability issues faced by the industry are addressed by MSPO’s seven principles such as environment and biodiversity, best practices and social responsibilities.

We have certified all of our operation units with MSPO.

International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is an independent, non-governmental international organization that ensures products and services are safe, reliable and of good quality. BPB’s Palm Oil Mills subscribe to ISO 9001:2015

ISO 9001:2015 is focused on meeting customer expectations and delivering customer expectations and delivering customer satisfaction.

To date, nine out of ten of our mills are accredited with the ISO9001:2015 Quality Management Standards.

International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) a globally leading certification system, which offers solutions to address sustainability requirements for all feedstocks and markets. ISCC aims at the implementation of highest sustainability requirement, such as ecological sustainability, social sustainability, compliance with laws and international treaties, monitoring of greenhouse (GHG) emissions, and good management practices. Apart from that, ISCC also covers Supply Chain Management.

BPB aim to certify at least one of certification unit by 2022.
