Zero-burning: A practice for sustainable future
29 November 2021Taking a stand against corruption
30 November 2021In Boustead Plantations Berhad, we have our very own ‘army’!
Boustead Green Army (BGA) is an initiative to provide employment opportunity to Malaysian Armed Forces retirees in our plantation. BGA is a special collaboration between Boustead Plantations Berhad, Yayasan LTAT and Jabatan Hal Ehwal Veteran (JHEV).
Conceptualised by putting the welfare of retired members of Armed Forces in mind, BGA provides a continuous source of income to the army retirees while at the same time addresses labour requirements in our estates.
Under the BGA initiative, Armed Forces retirees aged 45 and below are recruited to work with us as part of our special harvesting team. Armed with the latest harvesting technology and coupled with the retirees’ experience in the army, the inclusion of BGA will make harvesting in estates a breeze.
The first batch of BGA initiative consists of 20 army retirees that were recommended by JHEV, whereby they will go through a specially-arranged training programme. The first training session begins today until December 11 at our Bukit Mertajam Estate in Kedah, where eight BGA participants will be properly trained before being introduced to the estate environment.
The BGA initiative utilises our pool of local talents and provides an alternative to the reliance of foreign labours in plantation. With the Covid-19 pandemic continues to affect our livelihood, the initiative provides the necessary support to empower our Armed Forces retirees and improve their living standard.
BGA is our response to the call to assist and empower our local community. As a socially responsible plantation company, we steadfastly uphold the principles of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) throughout our operations.
