8 July 2022We make it a priority to preserve the natural ecosystem on any of our land and its surrounding vicinity.
Based on a 2010 High Conservation Value (HCV) assessment, we have identified a total of 576 hectares of HCV areas demarcated in our plantation operations.
To ensure the HCVs are protected and able to serve its ecosystem functions, we have put in place action plan to protect and preserve the areas.
All of BPB’s land is a no-hunting zone, and the area is continuously patrolled to monitor and eliminate the risks of poaching or other illegal activities.
We strictly impose a rule that prohibit hunting of rare, threatened and endangered species within our areas of operation. The rule extends to zones that are adjacent to the demarcated protected areas, with monitoring done in collaboration with relevant authorities.
As with our mission towards sustainable operations, preservation of flora and fauna within our operating areas is a responsibility entrusted to us, in line with the principles of Environmental, Social and Governance.
