2 December 2021Safety is paramount in our operations. As many of our workers in estates and mills deal with various mechanised equipment on a day-to-day basis, proper regulations on safety and health have been put in place to prevent workplace injuries.
To enhance safety aspect in our estates and mills, first-aid training has been periodically conducted on internal and external basis. One of the recent trainings held was at our Sungai-Sungai 1 Estate in Sabah, where about 40 estate workers undergone a two-day basic first-aid course.
Participants were taught basic life support skills such as CPR and other first aid methods including treating of wound, burn, fracture and spinal injuries. The course consisted of theory presentation, practical session and life-like simulation.
Such training is important as it does not only equip our workers with the knowledge, but also the skill to handle various type of emergencies. In dealing with injury, time is of the essence. Applying the right first-aid technique during any emergency would greatly assist the victim before proper help arrives.
