17 November 2021CEO continues engagement with senior-level management
19 November 2021Growing our business is an inclusive affair. As a socially responsible company, we do not only seek means to bring our company forward but to also move others along the journey to success.
Boustead Plantations Berhad is committed to advance its business sustainably while propelling economic growth of our surrounding communities, namely the smallholders and surrounding plantations. This is a group of small planters that are able to produce good yield with small landbank.
While some plantations possess technical, manpower and market support, many are still devoid of such luxury. Independent smallholders that are family-run, which rely on their yield as main source of income, often suffer with poor social and environmental standards.
In encouraging local development, a portion of our Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) is obtained through purchase from outlying smallholders in our estates nationwide. As of October this year, 106,000 metric ton (MT) of our total FFB were purchased from smallholders and surrounding plantations and growers. That represents around 13% from the total 835,708 (MT) of our FFB this year.
To further assist the small plantations and growers throughout the country, we have also established a dedicated department to manage the purchase of outside crop.
The Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles that we strongly adhered to will continue to be our driving force in providing the necessary support for our plantation neighbours.
