BPB continues to develop professional talents
23 December 2021BPB visits DreamEDGE HQ to explore possibilities in innovation and technology
24 December 2021At Boustead Plantations Berhad, we believe that a person’s value is on his or her merit, rather than gender and social background. While the industry itself is largely male-dominated, women had – and continue to – bring large and significant contributions in pushing our industry forward.
Persatuan Wanita Sungai Jernih (PEWANIS) is a Gender Committee formed by our mills and estates under the purview of Sungai Jernih Business Unit in east Peninsular Malaysia. PEWANIS was established with an aim to raise awareness, identify and address issues of concern, as well as opportunities and improvements for women.
In pushing the agenda of women empowerment, PEWANIS acts as a platform to raise issues, recommendations and help to develop gender-sensitive policies and guidelines for our women employees in Sungai Jernih estates and mills. Several other sub-committees have since been established under PEWANIS to address specific matters, including on social and work.
The establishment of PEWANIS promotes our women employees in Sungai Jernih a sense of self-worth, by giving them the ability to the determine choices and their right to influence changes – not only for women but others.
As we progress with our empowerment agenda along the principles of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG), we will continuously provide our unrelenting support to initiatives aimed to improve our human capital development by giving fair treatment to all without prejudice.
