KUALA LUMPUR: Boustead Plantations Berhad’s chief executive officer (CEO) Zainal Abidin Shariff has resigned to pursue other interests, effective today.

“While the board identifies a suitable candidate to fill the position, in the interim, Fahmy Ismail, will take the helm as acting chief executive officer of Boustead Plantations until further notice,” Boustead Plantations said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia.

Fahmy, 46, has been redesignated as executive director effective Nov 8.

“Formerly Boustead Plantations CEO from 2014 until 2018, Fahmy is also Boustead group finance director, thus the board believes his broad experience and knowledge in the industry will ensure smooth leadership transition and business continuity for the plantation division of the group,” it said in a separate statement.
